Pride Amsterdam 1994 - 2025
"Proud to be "
Since May 2020, this website has been archived by the Royal Library and IHLIA LGBT Heritage Amsterdam. Both institutions recognize its significant contribution to the history of Amsterdam's LGBT culture, offering a representative glimpse into the past and present of the Netherlands' Gay & Lesbian (LGBT) Capital. It was in this city, on April 1, 2001, that Mayor Job Cohen officiated the world's first gay marriage at the Stopera. Amsterdam has also proudly hosted the annual Gay Pride since 1994, a vibrant event for all ages that culminates in the spectacular Canal Pride, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. From 1994 to the present, I have captured countless moments of this wonderful celebration, featuring joyous Lesbians, Gays, Drag Queens, and friendly passers-by on the Zeedijk during the Hartjesdagen & Canal Pride.
If you recognize yourself in any of the photographs, please contact me, and I will gladly send you a digital copy.
